DesignTek introduces high performance Porsche 991 Turbo intercoolers. 

DesignTek Porsche intercoolers produces high-flow rate and dramatic temperature reduction which are mainly contributed by two key factors. Firstly, the great temperature reduction is accomplished by a 40% larger than stock sized intercooler cores in which each core has the capacity flow rate of 750 CFM. Secondly, which in our opinion is the most important element of an IC; the inlet/outlet end-tanks. Our end-tanks are a one piece cast aluminium construction design, formed with little to no corners and are also fully polished on the insides to increase air velocity; therefore minimizes welding points and greatly increases air flow and reduction in pressure drop which yields to improved efficiency. Also please note that all of our intercoolers come only in high polished finished for that uncompromised appearance.

CSF High-performance intercoolers.

For a long time the only solution for a Porsche 991 GT2 RS intercooler upgrade was not an upgrade, but a band-aid for the stock 1990's style water spray system which sprays water from a reservoir in the frunk and onto the intercoolers. The band-aid was to install a larger capacity water tank which simply delayed the inevitable running out of water and output to be automatically limited by the factory ECU to try to keep the engine safe. Until you refilled the reservoir again it's likely your 991 GT2 RS would struggle with charge temps and limited output.

Experts in cooling CSF and PWR have joined operations to deliver a High-Performance Intercooler Upgrade for the 991 GT2 RS which eliminates heat soak and lowers charge air temps on stock, tuned and tracked cars. CSF achieves this by using an F1 performance grade core which dramatically improves the efficiency of the intercoolers within the same space constraints.

The CSF High-Performance Intercoolers for the GT2 RS boasts 13 more cooling rows than the stock intercooler, boasting 28 rows in total vs. the stock 15. The tube height and fin height is also maximised with the CSF core boasting a dual-row 3mm rolled tube vs. the factory 7mm height and the CSF core uses a fin height of 4.85mm vs. the factory 7mm. As you can see, the CSF core maximises performance in every area.

The differences don't just end in performance. The CSF High-Performance Intercoolers for the GT2 RS also boast reliability and durability improvements. BBi worked with C&R racing to develop and validate intercoolers for the GT2 RS system. The new system is enhanced in every way to maximize cooling performance. This system went through extensive validation in 1/2 mile and road course enviroments as well as hot weather condition testing. From do88: Right from the beginning we realised that we could not sacrifice anything to keep the cost down we just had to do the best possible in the space available in the car!

First of all we made a lot of investigation and comparisons between different core types and at last really fell for a high density motorsport core which have great cooling efficiency along with a low weight.

With a great core in place we started to refine the end tank design which brought us to a decision to make cast end tanks as we could then control the air flow distribution over the core in a very precise way. This is very important as a good tank design will be beneficial for both pressure drop and cooling efficiency.

To be able to fit an intercooler with appropriate thickness for the job it was also necessary to design a new upper ambient air guide. This was designed in our 3D scanned environment to ensure perfect fit to the vehicle integrated air guides and our intercooler.

To achieve the best air flow distribution over the core we made intercooler end tanks with 70 mm (2 3/4 inch) connections which then made it necessary to design custom silicone hoses for all positions. The hoses are 3D designed with airflow in mind where we CFD tested each hose during development to ensure best possible flow rate of all parts! The hoses between turbocharger and intercooler are special silicone hoses that can withstand up to 240°C (464°F) continuous temperature!

Another important aspect for cooling performance are to use all ambient cooling air available, to optimize this part we include air block rubber seals for all surfaces where the ambient air guides must seal properly.

Using this design in building our intercoolers the weight increase compared to the OEM ones is relatively small considering the size of our intercooler and that its all made of aluminium. Our intercooler weight is 5,4 kg (11,9 lb) per piece and the 991 OEM intercooler weights 3,1 kg (6,8 lb) per piece. It might sound like a big weight increase but compared to other actors on the market with intercoolers in this size it's a low weight!

At the same time as our intercoolers lower the intake temperature, they also flow better than the 991 original intercoolers! Please have a look at the air flow rates at different pressure drops in the graph below where we compared our intercooler with hoses to the original intercooler with hoses in our own Superflow SF-1020 Probench to verify the final result!

Keep in mind that the OEM intercoolers was designed for only the power level the car was built for originally. A power increase may cause your stock intercoolers to not be efficient enough. When it comes to air flow performance our Y-pipe totally outperforms the OEM Y-pipe by 58% increased flow at the same pressure drop! Be aware of that the OEM parts are only designed for the power level the car was built for originally. A power increase may cause your stock Y pipe to hold back the power of your engine. So even on an engine with a software tune only the do88 performance Y-pipe will give a performance increase over the OEM Y-pipe!

do88 proudly presents the worlds first high flowing turbo inlet hoses for Porsche 991.1 / 991.2 Turbo. Self developed by do88 in Sweden !

• Much larger overall inner diameter for improved air flow, 31 % higher! (see graph diagram ). The hoses have a 2,5 inch (63mm) inner diameter at the narrowest location.
• Smooth flow transitions.
• Very smooth internal surface for best air flow.
• Excellent thermal properties, the hoses will not absorb heat from the engine.
• The hoses are reinforced with stainless steel wire to eliminate the risk of implosion on high out-takes.

It was a real challenge developing new turbo intake hoses for the 991 Turbo. The lack of space made it really difficult to make a set of hoses that would outflow the stock plastic pipes. We succeeded but in some smaller areas we had to compromise and allow these hoses to have no clearance, so they will push or rub in some non-sensitive areas.

We can ensure you the sensation while driving is very different. The improvement in throttle response is immense, making the car feel so much more refined and alert. This upgrade makes it become what it should have been from the start. This is an improvement no test figures can explain, it has to be perceived behind the wheel of a 991 turbo!

Onto the cast part we then weld CNC-machined connections for bov and breather hoses. This construction technique adds a lot of performance but only a touch of extra weight.
