After a one-year hiatus, Porsche reintroduces the 95B.2 Macan turbo with enhancements in power, speed, and standard features. Swapping out its previous twin-turbocharged 3.6ltr V6 for a new twin-turbo 2.9ltr V6, shared with models like the Cayenne and the Panamera, Porsche claims this upgrade shaves off 0.3 seconds from its acceleration time to 60 mph. Positioned at the zenith of the 95B.2 Macan lineup, the facelifted 2020 Macan Turbo boasts increased potency and performance.
Built on the MLB platform, also utilised by the first-generation Audi Q5 since 2007, the new Macan undergoes extensive enhancements, both aesthetically and dynamically. Beneath the bonnet lies a new 2.9ltr V6 bi-turbo engine, delivering a robust 440 hp, despite its 20 percent reduction in displacement compared to its predecessor. Accelerating from 0 to 100 kph (62 mph) in a brisk 4.3 seconds, it benefits from the latest iteration of the PDK gearbox, efficiently transmitting torque to all four wheels.
For added agility and control, Porsche offers an optional height-adjustable air suspension that stiffens during aggressive cornering, along with a vectoring traction system (Porsche Torque Vectoring) that intelligently distributes torque to optimize traction. Ceramic brakes are available for enhanced stopping power, while 20-inch wheels come as standard.
Inside the cabin, a Bose surround sound system enhances the auditory experience, although connectivity options remain limited to Apple CarPlay, a characteristic feature of Porsche. The Porsche Communication Management (PCM) features a 10.9-inch full HD touchscreen, providing intuitive access to various infotainment functions.
