Porsche introduced a base 95B.1 Macan 2.0ltr variant for specific Asian markets and the United Kingdom following the initial launch of the Macan S, Macan Turbo, and Macan Diesel models. This base model utilised a reworked version of the Volkswagen Group's 2.0lite inline-four EA888 Gen 3 engine, a powertrain also found in various applications like the Audi Q5. The global availability of this engine for the Macan's 2017 model year was confirmed in March 2016.
Equipped with the 2.0ltr inline-four turbocharged engine, the base 95B.1 Macan delivered 252hp, providing ample power for the lightweight Porsche SUV. It featured a standard active all-wheel-drive system with an electronically controlled, map-controlled multi-plate clutch, a configuration adopted across all Macan models. Power was transmitted through a seven-speed double-clutch transmission, ensuring seamless power delivery and enabling the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 kph (0-62 mph) in 6.2 seconds. Notably, there was no manual transmission option available for the Macan.
Externally, the base Macan bore resemblance to the Macan S model. Inside, it offered seating for five passengers, though the rear seating area was best suited for accommodating four occupants comfortably. The infotainment system supported Apple CarPlay connectivity but did not integrate with Android Auto. The dashboard design mirrored that of other Porsche models, particularly the Cayenne, while the short wheelbase still provided adequate legroom for rear passengers. Additionally, the split-folding seatback allowed for expanded trunk space when needed.
