For the 2022 model year, the Macan receives notable updates to its exterior, interior, and mechanical components. Porsche has bolstered the engine options across the lineup, offering more power to buyers compared to the 2021 models. The base model now features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, upgraded to produce 261 horsepower and 295 pounds-feet of torque, marking increases of 13 and 22, respectively, over the previous version.
Stepping up to the 2022 Macan S, drivers will find the same engine found in the 2021 Macan GTS, a twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V-6 generating 375 hp and 383 pounds-feet of torque. Meanwhile, the range-topping Macan GTS inherits the twin-turbo 2.9-liter V-6 from the 2021 Macan Turbo, boasting an impressive 434 hp and 406 pounds-feet of torque. Although a pattern of escalating performance seems evident, Porsche has yet to announce anything surpassing the GTS in terms of power.
In addition to upgraded powertrains, the GTS model now includes standard Porsche Surface Coated Brakes and an adaptive suspension system, which Porsche claims can be up to 15% stiffer than previous iterations. The revised models showcase refreshed front styling with new air intakes and body-color bumper trim, along with a taller rear diffuser. Notable changes along the sides include textured elements in the side blade design and standard Sport Design side mirrors. Furthermore, a variety of new wheel options are available, ranging from 19 to 21 inches in size.
Inside the 2022 Macan, refinements take precedence over major overhauls. A new center console design features touch-sensitive controls surrounding a revised and shorter gear selector lever. The standard 10.9-inch touchscreen now includes built-in navigation and Apple CarPlay, although Android Auto compatibility remains absent for this model year. While Porsche recently announced an update to its multimedia system to include Android Auto, the 2022 Macan is not equipped with this feature.
