Tapered Socket. Universal.

Rennline has adapted Porsche Motorsports engineering with our own style and design to give you the highest quality quick release hub on the market. Unlike similar units on the market, this hub has a tapered asymmetrical socket that eliminates any chance of looseness as the hub breaks in. Rennline Quick Releases are equipped with spring loaded roll pins to allow for a seamless one hand removal which is vital in any emergency situation. All critical components are precision machined from anodized 7075 aircraft grade aluminum and designed to work with the standard 6 bolt pattern found on most Momo, OMP, and Sparco wheels.
Note: Pictures may not show actual product.
For cars with 4-spoke steering wheel.
PLEASE NOTE: Porsche have changed the shape of this frame for which you might need as new steering wheel and new airbag. We also offer bush repair kit that will allow you to repair your old mount

Motorsport-like gear changes – TECHART is fulfilling its customers this desire. Starting from May the new TECHART retrofit kit allows all drivers to upgrade their Porsche sport steering wheel or multifunction steering wheel featuring the standard PDK gearshift switchers.
The TECHART paddle shifters were shown in a world premiere in the design study Concept One at the Geneva Motor-Show. The ergonomically mounted paddles allow the driver to shift up with a pull of the right paddle and to shift down with a pull of the left paddle. Hardwearing injection molded ABS parts ensure a pleasant paddle temperature – both at intensive insolation and hibernal temperatures.
Precise control as well as quick shifting and perfect handling offer a maximum of driving pleasure. Even for enthusiastic driving – with the TECHART paddle shifters the driver has the absolute control. Motorsport feeling – for on-track and on-road driving.
Uncompromisingly sportive as well as suitable for daily on-road use – the TECHART paddle shifters are available for all Porsche sport steering wheels and multifunction steering wheels with PDK gearshift switches as well as all TECHART sport steering wheels.

What This Product Does:
- The switch assembly allows the driver to manually request a gear up or gear down change via the steering wheel (or a stalk) in a car equipped with the Tiptronic or manual-mode automatic transmission.
- When pressed, the switch sends a signal to the transmission control unit (TCU) or shift logic unit, telling the system that the driver wants a gear shift (up or down). The system then executes the shift accordingly (assuming conditions are safe).
- It enables a more engaging driving experience: rather than fully automatic shifts, the driver can intervene via the steering wheel — especially useful for sporty driving or when you want more control.
- Since this switch is mounted in the steering column or wheel housing, it must integrate electrically and mechanically with the steering wheel, clock spring (slip ring), airbag wiring (if present), and shift logic.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
- Gear shift requests not registering: you press the paddle or switch and the transmission does nothing or delays shifting — the switch may not be signalling properly.
- Unexpected behavior: the shift logic may behave erratically (e.g., unintended shifts, no response) because the input is corrupted or erratic.
- Warning lights or error codes: your TCU or instrument cluster may log faults relating to gear shift input, steering wheel controls, or slip-ring/clock-spring issues.
- Physical damage or wear: the switch may feel loose in the wheel, or the button might require unusual force; wiring or connectors may be degraded; slip-ring may be worn causing intermittent signal loss.
- Having a fully functioning shift-switch on a Tiptronic or manual-mode automatic is key for driver control and engagement. If the switch fails, you lose an important ergonomic interface.
- From a safety standpoint: faults in steering-wheel mounted switch modules can impact other systems (airbag wiring, steering-column controls) or cause unexpected behaviors — replacing a faulty assembly restores correct integration.
- For vehicles being restored, modified or where the steering wheel has been replaced/modified, ensuring the correct switch unit is fitted (and the “without cover” variant matches your wheel) is important for fitment, function and resale value.
- Proper repair avoids repeated diagnostic and repair costs. A degraded switch can lead to transmission control faults, which may require expensive fault-finding.
- Ensures longevity: wiring, mechanical integrity, and switch responsiveness degrade over time; replacing it pre-emptively improves reliability.

What Do Steering Wheel Parts Do?
Steering wheel components work together to provide safe, accurate control and driver feedback, while integrating essential functions like horn, airbag, and audio controls.
Core Functions:
- Provide a secure connection between the steering column and wheel.
- Ensure smooth rotation and responsive handling.
- Maintain operation of horn, airbag, and multifunction systems.
- Support alignment and vibration damping.
- Enhance driver comfort and interior aesthetics.
Each part plays a crucial role in maintaining control, safety, and driving enjoyment — key elements of Porsche’s performance heritage.
Why Do Steering Wheel Parts Fail or Wear Out?
Even precision-engineered Porsche steering components experience wear due to constant motion, vibration, and environmental exposure.
Common Causes of Failure Include:
- Wear or damage to hub splines or bushings.
- Electrical faults in horn or multifunction switches.
- Degraded wiring or loose connections.
- Airbag or contact ring failure.
- Corrosion, heat, or UV exposure affecting trim and materials.
Worn or malfunctioning steering wheel components can lead to looseness, electrical faults, or loss of key functionality — compromising comfort and safety.
