Shift Lever boot trim panel for Porsche 964/993

numeric

The Re-Boot is a solution for Porsche 964 and 993 owners looking to update their shifter or shift knob allowing the factory integrated boot to be removed. This solution is great for those looking to replicate a "retro look" shift boot, or those who have installed a short shifter with an integrated knob. Designed in CAD and verified through multiple 3D printed physical units obsessing over ever small detail before reaching the final unit seen here. These panels are produced in ABS Plastic utilizing an injection, the same process used by Porsche to produce the existing trim pieces in the original interior.

Designed and tested in CAD
Produced from Injection Molded ABS
Paintable for a bespoke look
Secures using pressure and existing boot clips
Completely Reversible, No hardware required
Designed and Produced in USA by Enthusiasts

We've taken great care to attempt to match the existing colour and finish, however some variations may be present as a result of discolorations to the OEM panels over time.

The lower rubber boot or shift bellow is not included, however since the Re-Boot utilizes the original rubber shift bellow, one is already installed in your 964 or 993 from the factory beneath the center console. If your boot is in poor shape, we offer OEM replacements in the store to save shipping. Prior to install we recommended inspecting, cleaning and protecting the boot prior to installing to help preserve the finish.

Short shift / throw shifter

numeric

Fits:
Porsche 964 Carrera 2 / Turbo
Porsche 993 Carrera 2 / GT2
2-Wheel Drive vehicles only

This shifter is a game changer! We approached the design of this shifter with the Numeric Racing mindset, and it paid off. This shifter eliminates all the bushings and slop of the stock shifter to give that bolt-action shifting experience Porsche enthusiasts love. The removal of the excessive stock parts makes our shifter 30% lighter too. The shifter is CNC machined from aerospace grade aluminum with stainless steel hardware and includes precision ball bearings to ensure undeniable accuracy. There is absolutely no other like it.

Features:

OEM Fitment: The shifter bolts on easily and directly without any fabrication or modifications! Just remove the stock shift lever, tunnel tube, and forward rod then bolt our shifter right on. Simple and easy install. Nothing required but a few common use tools and red Loctite, although a lift is recommended. The position change in the cabin is no different in the longer throw setting, our shifter will sit and is angled exactly like the stock shifter. In the shorter throw setting, it will sit 1/2" taller than the stock shifter. Also, a plug and play with the Golden Rod or stock shift rod.

Patented Adjustable Throw: Throw reduction of up to 40% (equivalent to 1.1" reduction for each gear). This provides short and crisp throws. No more long and sloppy throws. There is also a longer throw option at 33% reduction on the shift lever, so it is interchangeable based on preference. Here at Numeric Racing, we own the patent for being able to adjust the throw by multiple hole positions on the lever so we can confidently say there is none like it.

Ball Bearings on Every Moving Axis: We remove all bushings and clips that hold the stock shifter in place and bare metal to metal contact for pivot with ball bearings. This is how we can remove all the play from the shifter and provide precise shifts. The forward rod is also eliminated, as that was the old pivot point in the stock shifter and still is in nearly all the other aftermarket options. The problem with that forward rod is that it uses a bushing as the pivot point. It also limits the other shifter options on the market for how short to make the throw because to make the throws shorter, they must lower that rod. But we all know that the rod can only go so low before it will interfere with the heat shield. We do not use the forward rod and that is how we are able to achieve short, crisp throws at 40 and 33 percentage reduction.

All Stainless-Steel Hardware: All hardware is stainless steel, and all aluminum is anodized. Rust will not be a worry with our shifters.

Shift Boot Delete: We partnered with Swine Eleven for the 964/993 shift boot trim panel. The Swine Eleven Re-Boot is a solution for Porsche 964 and 993 owners looking to update their shift knob allowing the factory integrated boot to be removed. This solution is great for those looking to replicate a "Singer Style" shift boot. Order through our website to purchase the ones they tailored to our shifter. If you already have one installed, some slight non-visible modification must be made for it to work with our shifter (contact us).

About Short Gear Shift

Porsche Short Gear Shift

At Design911, we supply a wide range of short gear shift options for Porsche models, helping you maintain, personalise and enjoy your car.

Why do Porsche Short Gear Shift matter?

Short gear shift kits affect how your Porsche feels and responds every time you change gear. Over time, standard linkages and mechanisms can feel loose or imprecise, or you may simply want a more engaging, performance‑orientated shift action. Replacing or upgrading these parts can sharpen the driving experience and better match other performance modifications on your Porsche.

  • Keep your Porsche feeling precise and well set up rather than loose or vague
  • Help protect surrounding components by reducing harsh, missed or rushed shifts
  • Reduce minor niggles such as excess lever play or inconsistent shift feel
  • Support long-term enjoyment, pride of ownership and potential resale value

When should you review or replace your Porsche short gear shift?

Checking short gear shift components regularly helps you spot wear, damage or age-related deterioration before it affects comfort, refinement or leads to more expensive repairs later on.

  • Existing parts are worn, cracked, scuffed, corroded or feel excessively loose
  • You notice missed shifts, baulking or an untidy, notchy shift action
  • You have had related work carried out and want the shift feel to match other upgrades
  • You want the car to feel sharper and more engaging in daily use or before resale

If any of these apply, it is a good time to review your short gear shift parts and replace anything that is past its best, so your Porsche stays dependable and enjoyable to drive.
