Common symptoms of a worn wheel bearing If the wheel bearing fails or is worn out, you might notice symptoms such as humming or growling noise while driving, especially at higher speeds also look out for vibration or shaking in the steering wheel or seat. Uneven tire wear or a noticeable difference in handling, with the car pulling to one side, also look out for a grinding sound from the wheel area when turning or under load.
