Engine Oil Cooler Shim.
The Porsche Engine Oil Cooler Shim is a genuine OEM part designed to provide precise alignment and sealing for the engine oil cooler assembly. This thin 0.5 mm shim is fitted between the oil cooler and its mounting surface, ensuring the correct spacing for a leak-free installation.

What This Product Does:
The shim helps to adjust the spacing / clearance between the oil cooler and its mounting surface (engine block / cooler housing). It ensures proper sealing and alignment of the oil cooler assembly.

Symptoms / Signs It Might Be Needed:

• Oil leaks around the oil cooler mounting flange — if the cooler is not seated flush, oil may seep past the gasket or mating surfaces.
• Difficulty in getting a good seal when fitting a replacement oil cooler; the cooler may seem slightly misaligned or stressed.
• The mounting bolts for the oil cooler either bottom out or don’t tighten uniformly due to uneven spacing.
• Gasket damage — repeated leaking may damage gaskets, which could require a shim correction.

Why Replacement / Using the Correct Shim Matters:

• Ensures the oil cooler is properly aligned and sealed, preventing oil leaks, which are messy and can lead to lubrication issues.
  
• Helps maintain correct engine oil pressure and flow — misaligned or improperly mounted coolers might affect cooling efficiency or add resistance in oil paths.
• Prevents damage from oil leaks (on exhausts, belts, hoses) and avoids risk of oil starvation or overheating of engine components.
• It's a very low-cost part but can save more expensive issues (leak repairs, gasket replacements, etc.).
