Repair or prevent spring plate mounts from cracking.

Repair or prevent spring plate mounts from cracking
Spring Plate Mount Reinforcement Panels will help prevent or repair the common problem of cracked spring plate cover mounts resulting from worn, deformed, or stuck bushings in the cover.

Elephant Racing Rear Spring Plate Mount Reinforcement Panels are precision laser-cut and formed panels from 18 gauge steel. These panels distribute the torsion bar and spring plate loads into the torsion tube housing and multi-layer sheet metal just beyond the original mounting boss locations.

Excess heat during the welding process will tend to distort the sheet metal moving the mounting studs out of alignment. The included Mounting Stud Alignment Panel will help maintain their original spacing allowing for much easier reassembly.

At this time, you may also be interested in replacing your bushings or upgrade to Elephant Racing's PolyBronze spring plate bushings.

Please note: Welding is required to install properly

Stock Spec Spring Plate Bushes

A true stock spec bushing replacement for spring plates.
Spring plate bush condition can be accessed by looking at the hole in the spring plate cover. It should be concentric around the spring plate. When the bushings deform, the cover becomes non-concentric around the spring plate and in extreme cases actually contacts the cover plate – metal-to-metal.

More than just bushings, this is a full kit that includes inner and outer bushings (4 pcs), adhesive, instructions, long bolts to press in the bushings, and abrasive cloth to prep the surface.

Rubber is the choice if you want to restore factory ride and performance in a zero-maintenance solution. Check our PolyBronze Bearings for a high-performance solution.

Also see our Bushings Removal Tool to simplify the removal of old bushings.

Notes – 1967 spring plate bushings changed mid-year
The following 1967 chassis numbers transitioned to the late style 1969-89 style bushes.
• 1967 911 from Chassis Number 307 325
• 1967 912 from Chassis Serial 354 938
• 1967 911 S from Chassis Serial 305101 A

All earlier 1967 chassis numbers use the early 1965-67 style bushes

More Grip, Better Tire Contact Patch

Updates the rear suspension camber curve to meet the needs of modern, wide, low-profile radial tires. The result is superior grip in turns, superior grip in straight-line braking, reduced tire wear. Excellent for both street and track.

✔ Improved contact patch in turns
✔ Improved contact patch for straight-line braking
✔ Go street-to-track with one camber setting
✔ Reduced tire wear
✔ Reduced camber thrust/rolling resistance

ASP Makes The Tire Gain Camber Faster.

As the suspension compresses in turns, countering the effects of body roll and matching the needs of modern radial tires. The tire remains square with the road surface and the contact patch is improved. Grip increases.

With the ASP '69-'89 911s can now achieve modern suspension performance.

How Does It Work?

The 911 suspension was designed in the early 1960s for narrow, high-profile, bias ply tires of the day. '60s bias ply tires did not need or like a lot of negative camber.

Fast forward 50+ years to 2013 – tire technology has progressed – we run wide, low-profile, radial tires. Modern tires need a lot of negative camber to grip well. No surprise, the 911 suspension designed nearly 50 years ago doesn't match the needs of modern tires!

All modern Porsches are designed with aggressive camber curves matching radial tires needs beginning with the 1990 911(964) and continuing through the current models. The ASP updates the early 911 suspension to similarly perform with modern radial tires.

The core problem is illustrated by the stock blue 911 pictured, the tires follow the lean of the car in the turn – causing poor contact as the tires roll over onto the outside edge. The rate of camber gain is too slow, grip suffers.

Easy To Setup Toe And Camber Independantly

Replaces the troublesome stock eccentric adjusters with simple double-adjusters.

ASP allows adjustment with vehicle weight resting on the tires making it easy to read a camber / toe gauge while turning the adjusters. Quick changes can be made trackside even if a camber gauge is not available.

✔ Upper and lower double-adjusters
✔ Rotate same direction to set toe
✔ Rotate opposite direction to set static camber

Replaces stock '69-'89 spring plate blade and spring plate cover. Bolt on – no welding required, works with torsion bars or coilovers. Use with any standard size bushing – not included – PolyBronze recommended. Requires the splined hub portion from a set of factory adjustable spring plates or the QuickChange Spring Plate splined hub. Download instructions for more information.

Note – Some images show the ASP pictured with optionally available QuickChange Splined Hub and PolyBronze Bearings. Trailing arm is not included and is shown for reference only.

RSR 935 Rear Spring Plate Set For Porsche 911 / 930 Turbo

Fits:
Porsche 911 1966-89 with rear coil overs
Porsche 930 Turbo
Porsche 912's with rear coil overs

Features & Quality
Our coilover-only spring plate system has the added features and thoughtful engineering you expect from Elephant Racing.
Rubber Seals

Rubber seals keep water and contaminate out of the oversized precision rod ends. Seals are critical to extend rod end life for both racers and street cars. Racers have the occasional "agricultural excursion", covering the suspension with grit and dirt that accelerates wear of unsealed rod ends. Street cars have occasional exposure to water when washing or in rain. Rubber seals are key to long life.
Build Quality

Skillful TIG welding and machined radius on the plate. Hard anodize burgundy aluminum parts are tough, attractive and look good on most any color car. Top quality materials throughout.

Hardened alloy steel blades and aircraft grade aluminum to handle even high HP turbos.

Precision, Oversize rod end – For long trouble-free performance.
Ease of adjustment

Drilled hole positively defines plate length ensuring proper thread engagement at double adjuster and rod end, preventing accidental over-extension possible with double-slotted designs.
Two Height Settings

Choose stock height or 1 inch raise for anti-squat geometry (requires matching raise of trailing ar

  • Porsche 911 1987-1989 3.2L G50

Diagram Ref No 6

What This Product Does:

  • The uprated rear spring plate connects your Porsche’s torsion bar to the rear suspension arm, transferring spring tension into the chassis. It controls ride height, rear camber, and toe, and ensures the suspension geometry remains stable under load.
  • The “uprated” design improves on the original factory plate by using stronger materials and stiffer rubber bushes, reducing unwanted flex and maintaining alignment during hard cornering, acceleration, and braking.
  • For Porsche 911 models equipped with the G50 gearbox (1987–1989), this version ensures perfect fitment with the later rear suspension layout and provides a more precise, performance-focused response.

Symptoms Of A Worn Or Failing Spring Plate:
  • Uneven or Unstable Rear Ride Height – The car may sit lower on one side or show inconsistent ride height after bumps.
  • Poor Handling or “Rear-End Float” – The rear feels loose or unpredictable when cornering, braking, or accelerating.
  • Excessive Noise or Clunking – You may hear knocks or creaks from the rear suspension as the bushes wear or the plate moves.
  • Excessive Tire Wear – Incorrect geometry from worn plates can cause uneven rear tire wear, especially on the inside edge.
  • Vibration or Instability at Speed – Worn bushes can allow unwanted movement in the rear suspension, affecting high-speed stability.

Why Replacement With Uprated G50 Versions Matter:
  • Restores Geometry Precision: Keeps torsion bar alignment correct, maintaining stable camber and toe under load.
  • Improves Handling: Firmer bushings and stiffer construction minimize flex, improving cornering response and balance.
  • Eliminates Rear-End Slop: Reduces play and movement in the suspension for a tighter, more connected driving feel.
  • Enhances Durability: Modern uprated materials resist corrosion, fatigue, and aging better than the originals.
  • Essential for Restorations & Performance Builds: Ensures suspension performs at its best when upgrading shocks, torsion bars, or ride height.

About Spring plates

Porsche Spring plates

At Design911, we supply a wide range of spring plates for Porsche models, from OE-type replacements to performance-adjustable setups for classic and later cars.

Our product range includes

Why do Porsche Spring plates matter?

Spring plates sit between the torsion bars or springs and the rear suspension on many Porsche models, and play a key role in how the rear of the car moves, feels and can be adjusted. Over time the plates and especially their bushes can wear or corrode, which affects how smoothly the suspension articulates and how accurately ride height and geometry can be set. Renewing tired components helps the rear suspension work freely again and supports precise setup for road or track use.

  • Keep the rear of your Porsche feeling consistent and controlled
  • Support accurate ride height and geometry adjustment during setup
  • Reduce unwanted noises from worn bushes and sticking movement
  • Help maintain long-term enjoyment and potential resale appeal of classic Porsche models

When should you review or replace your Porsche spring plates?

Checking spring plates and their bushes during suspension work helps you spot wear, damage or age-related deterioration before it affects comfort, refinement or leads to more expensive repairs later on.

  • Existing parts are worn, cracked, noisy, corroded or seized
  • You notice knocking, squeaking, binding, inconsistent ride height or harshness over bumps
  • Rear alignment or ride-height adjustment has become difficult or unstable
  • You are carrying out a wider suspension refresh, geometry setup or restoration

If any of these apply, it is a good time to review your spring plates and replace anything that is past its best so your Porsche stays dependable and enjoyable to drive.
