THE BUMP STEER KIT : Allows Tie Rods to be adjusted downward in extra precise 1/32" (1mm) increments, taking advantage of a wider adjustment range than other kits on the market. Utilizes one of the highest quality alloy steel spherical rod ends available. Teflon/Kevlar lined, full length body, and capable of 30 degrees misalignment, so there is no binding throughout suspension travel or when the car is raised off the ground.

THE TIE ROD KIT: The original factory 911 1974-89 tie rods use rubber dampers which can make steering feel spongy, especially with age. Upgrading to 911 Turbo tie rods will give your car firmer and more responsive steering. Installation is a straight-forward process, and can typically be performed in an afternoon.

Porsche 911 2.7/SC/3.2 1974-89
Porsche 911 TURBO (930) 3.0/3.3L 1975-89

Precision Steering Under Pressure

Our top-performing bump steer solution is super strong and provides the sharpest, most predictable steering response. It eliminates steering knuckle twist induced toe steer and can be used on raised spindles of any height.

Double steering knuckle – Holds tie rod end between two steering knuckles to eliminate knuckle flex regardless of bump steer spacer length.

Long bump steer spacers (required with raised spindles) place bending loads that twist stock steering knuckles. Twist causes undesired toe steer.

Second steering knuckle is welded to the strut body

Bump steer adjustable – allows massive bump steer adjustment range in .125 inch increments. Double shear mounting provides solid support for even the longest bump steer spacing.

Rod End – Weather sealed precision rods ends included work with regular turbo tie rods. Included boots to seal out dirt and and water for extended life.

Our purpose-made rod ends are extra long to ensure proper threaded engagement with standard turbo tie rods

Spindle height – Kits available for 19mm, 30mm, 40mm spindle height.
Kits are easily modified for use with essentially any spindle height.

Std. Length With Tie-Rod Ends

Improve steering precision and feedback

Turbo tie rods improve feedback and steering precision by replacing the rubber tie rod bushings with ball socket ends. Originally equipped on the 911 turbo, they can be installed on the normal 911, 912, & 914.

We offer turbo tie rods in standard length for '69-'89 911 series cars, and a special extra-long version for '65-'68 911/912. The '65-'68 cars have a narrow steering rack which causes inadequate tie rod thread engagement without our extra long turbo tie rods.

The standard kits are complete with tie rods, spacing washers, and steering rack boots for both sides. We also offer the kits without the tie rod ends. Choose this option if you are using a tie rod end bump steer kit

Product Information
This complete kit provides a full replacement for worn or aged steering tie rods on classic Porsche 911, 912, 914, and early 930 models. It includes both left- and right-hand assemblies, along with spacers, washers, rack boots, cotter pins, and end nuts — all the components required for a complete front steering linkage refresh. Engineered to restore factory steering geometry, eliminate play, and enhance precision and feedback, this kit solves the common wear and fatigue issues found in older tie-rod and bushing systems.
Price is for a kit which fits both left & right side.

Fits
Porsche 911 2.7/SC/3.2 1974 - 1989
Porsche 911 TURBO (930) 3.0/3.3L 1975 - 1989
Porsche 914 1970 - 1976

Manufactured to OE standards of material strength, precision machining and durability, this kit is ideal for restoration, performance refresh or improving driving feel on your classic Porsche.

Kit Contents:
2 × tie rod assemblies (left & right)
2 × washers/spacers
2 × rack boots
2 × cotter pins
2 × end-nuts

Function: Replaces front steering tie rods to ensure correct geometry and eliminate play
Position: Front suspension – steering tie rod linkage
Benefits: Direct-fit restoration, improved steering feel, includes all required hardware

Over years of use, steering tie rods endure constant vibration, loading and wear. Rubber-bushed joints can degrade, leading to increased play, vague steering feel or uneven tyre wear.

Replace this kit when:
You notice steering play, vague turn-in or wandering front end
You're doing a front suspension rebuild or full restoration
The original rods or boots show cracks, corrosion or excessive wear
You want to restore factory geometry and tight steering response

Installing the Tie Rod Kit ensures your classic Porsche has solid, responsive steering, correct linkage dimensions and trusted performance — enhancing handling and driver confidence.

About Steering Track Rods

Porsche Steering Track Rods

Enhance Your Porsche steering with the right choice of steering track rods and related components. At Design911, we supply options for a wide range of Porsche models, from straightforward replacement parts to upgraded assemblies that can support more precise geometry setup.

Our product range in this category

Within steering track rods you will typically find complete track rod assemblies, inner tie rods, outer rod ends, and associated hardware for Porsche models. Use the filters on this page to narrow by model, year and side/position so you can select the correct parts.

Why do Porsche Steering Track Rods matter?

Steering track rods link the steering rack to the front hubs on your Porsche, transmitting your inputs to the wheels and helping to keep the geometry where it should be. As joints wear, you can develop play, vague steering and alignment issues, which in turn affect confidence and tyre wear. Refreshing tired track rods or choosing suitable performance alternatives helps your Porsche feel more precise and consistent in everyday use and fast-road driving.

  • Keep your Porsche steering positive and reassuring rather than loose or vague
  • Help maintain correct alignment to support even tyre wear
  • Reduce knocks, clunks and play from worn joints in the steering linkage
  • Support long-term enjoyment, confidence and potential resale appeal

Common options & kits

Individual replacement parts – Specific inner or outer track rod components for Porsche models, ideal when you need to address a particular worn joint or side without changing everything.

  • Target one area showing play or damage
  • Useful when other steering components are still in good condition
  • Can be a sensible choice during diagnostics or staged repair work

Matched sets or pairs – Left and right track rods or rod ends supplied together so both sides are renewed at the same time.

  • Helps maintain consistent steering feel from lock to lock
  • Reduces the chance of uneven wear characteristics between sides
  • Often chosen when mileage or age suggests both sides are similar

Complete kits – Grouped steering refresh kits that may include track rods, ends and associated fixings for Porsche models.

  • Brings together related components for a steering overhaul
  • Saves time compared with sourcing each item individually
  • Useful when upgrading or refurbishing the front end of your Porsche

Brands available in this category

For this category we stock a wide choice of trusted brands for Porsche models. You can also browse and filter by brand on this page to focus on your preferred manufacturers.

When should you review or replace your Porsche steering track rods?

Steering components live a hard life, dealing with bumps, steering load and the effects of age and corrosion. Checking steering track rods periodically helps you pick up wear or damage before it undermines confidence or causes excessive tyre wear.

  • Loose or vague steering, especially around the straight-ahead position
  • Knocking or clunks over bumps or when you apply steering lock
  • Wandering at speed or the need for constant small corrections
  • Uneven or accelerated tyre wear that may point to poor alignment

If any of these apply, it is a good time to have the steering linkage inspected and renew any tired Porsche steering track rods so your car stays reassuring and enjoyable to drive.
