Replacement for Diagram Ref No.16

Unfortunately, lowering the rear of your 911/912/930 is not nearly as easy as lowering the front. That is until you install this new Adjustable Spring Plate kit Now your rear ride height can be adjusted to your desired level with a simple turn of a bolt.
Note: When using adjustable spring plates with stock torsion bars, the splines may be a tight fit and require a small amount of hand fitting.

Spring plate normally rust, replacing them will give you a better ride.

  • Porsche 911 1975-1977 3.0L Turbo (930)

Diagram Ref No 16

What This Product Does:
  • The spring plate is the point where the torsion bar is mounted into the chassis — it transfers torsional force (spring action) from the torsion bar to the body / suspension.
  • The adjustability allows you to change how much preload (twist) is put on the torsion bar, which influences ride height, spring rate, and camber under load. This is especially beneficial for performance tuning or if you have modified suspension, tires, or body geometry.
  • With an adjustable plate, you can fine-tune corner balance, handling traits, and compensate for wear or changes in suspension parts over time.
  • Also, replacing old, rusty, or fatigued plates with fresh adjustable ones restores rigidity, consistency, and accuracy to the rear suspension geometry

Symptoms & Signs You May Need Replacement:
  • The original plates are rusty, corroded, or weakened (common in older cars)
  • The car’s rear ride height or camber is out of spec, and you need a way to adjust without drastic modifications.
  • You notice uneven tire wear, or inconsistent handling from side to side, which can be improved by more precise geometry control.

Why This Upgrade Matters:
  • Upgrading to adjustable rear spring plates gives you complete control over your Porsche’s suspension setup. Factory plates offer no fine adjustment, making it difficult to achieve precise ride height, camber, and corner balance — especially on modified or track-driven cars.
  • With this adjustable design, you can easily tune torsion bar preload and suspension geometry, ensuring the perfect stance and balance for your driving style. The result is sharper turn-in, improved rear-end grip, and more predictable handling, whether on the road or at the circuit.
  • For classic Porsche models using torsion-bar suspension, this upgrade transforms the driving experience — combining modern adjustability with quality fitment and long-term reliability.

What This Product Does:
  • The spring plate is part of the torsion bar suspension system: as the rear suspension moves, the torsion bar twists, and the spring plate (with its bushings) transmits those torsional loads to the chassis.
  • The bushings isolate vibration and reduce noise, and they allow some controlled movement, while preventing excessive play.
  • A correctly functioning spring plate + bushing assembly helps maintain rear ride height, alignment consistency, and smooth articulation of the rear suspension under dynamic load.

Symptoms Of Worn Or Failing Bushings:
  • Clunking / knocking noise at the rear when driving over bumps or under load.
  • Sagging or uneven ride height at the rear (one side lower)
  • Excessive rear vibration or harshness under acceleration or load
  • Contact / rubbing noise — the worn bushings may allow the spring plate to contact its cover or adjacent metal surfaces.
  • Degraded handling / instability in the rear under cornering
  • Loss of the “tight” feel in the rear suspension; more play in the rear suspension response

Why Replacement Matters:
  • Restores Rear End Stability & Ride Quality: The upgraded, stiffer bushings reduce unwanted movement and maintain better control under load.
  • Preserves Correct Geometry & Height: Keeps torsion bar and spring plate alignment tight, preventing sag or misalignment over time.
  • Reduces Noise & Harshness: Eliminates metal-to-metal contact and vibration that results from deteriorated rubber.
  • Better Durability: Heavy-duty rubber compound resists deformation, aging, heat, and oil.
  • Protects Other Components: Reduces stress on torsion bars, suspension arms, and adjoining parts that might be damaged by excessive play.
  • Essential for Restoration / Rebuilds: When rebuilding rear suspension or restoring a classic 911, these bushings are part of a full refresh to return the car to factory (or better) behavior.

Fits:
Porsche 911/912/930 ALL 1965-89

Gain back ride quality and rear end stability with High Density Rear Spring Plate Bushings for your 911. Under prolonged use, especially when driven hard, the OEM bushings can break down allowing more slop in the rear suspension. If neglected long enough or driven under heavy load enough, these bushings will eventually deform allowing the spring plate to contact the cover plate. Replacing your factory bushings with our 25% stiffer units will allow full and smooth articulation of the spring plate, thus improving the ride quality and performance of the legendary rear end in your classic 911. Featuring a higher, "sport" durometer these rubber mounts are a great compromise between soft factory mounts and solid/spherical bearings often used to replace them.

Rear CamberMax Kit. Rear camber adjuster.
Sold per kit, 1 kit req'd per car.

elephantracing

Fits:
Porsche 911/912/930 1965-89
AL trailing arms only

Rear CamberMax kit simplifies 911 rear camber adjustment, making it easy to achieve aggressive negative camber settings of 3+ degrees. Instead of using the troublesome factory eccentric bolt, Rear CamberMax allows adjustment with a simple and precise screw.

Unlike the stock eccentric adjuster, Rear CamberMax allows adjustment with vehicle weight resting on the tires making it easy to read a camber gauge while turning the adjuster.

By making equal adjuster turns on both driver and passenger sides, quick changes can be made trackside even if a camber gauge is not available – try that with the factory eccentric adjuster!

Note – Fits factory spring plates and AL trailing arms only. Does not fit Sway-a-way plates or steel trailing arms.

Spring plate PolyBronze bearings
For Porsche 911, 912, 930 1968-1989 Spring Plate SAW

elephantracing

PolyBronze bearings are superior to plastic bushing alternatives, here's why:

Suspension mounts are coarse sheet metal pressings. They tend to be out-of-round and have irregularities that deform ordinary polyurethane bushings, pinching and binding the friction surface. Polyurethane is "grippy" with an inherently high coefficient of friction and combined with pinching polyurethane bushings create a lot of friction. The result is a harsh ride and reduced tire adhesion.

PolyBronze have a rigid bronze bearing core that does not deform. The polyurethane jacket absorbs mount irregularities while the bronze inner bearing remains true, providing a free-moving machined-fit that rides on a precision race. Provided grease fittings make re-lubrication a breeze and a figure 8 groove keeps grease in place.

The combination delivers zero squeaks and friction-free suspension movement. Well suited to street or track, ride quality.

PolyBronze is a precision bronze bearing encased in a polyurethane jacket. The combination delivers a smooth-ride with the extreme performance of a metal bearing.

✔ No squeaks or binding
✔ Extremely smooth ride quality
✔ Easier to install than rubber bushings
✔ Integrated grease fittings and grooves

Note – 1967 spring plate bushings changed mid-year. The following '67 chassis numbers transitioned to the late style '69-'89 style bushes.

• '67 911 from Chassis Serial Number 307 325
• '67 912 from Chassis Serial Number 354 938
• '67 911 S from Chassis Serial Number 305 101 A

All earlier '67 chassis numbers use the early '65-'66 style bushes.

About Spring Plate

Porsche Spring Plates | Design911 Suspension Components for Ride Height, Alignment & Stability

Spring plates are a critical part of your Porsche’s rear suspension system, connecting the torsion bars to the trailing arms and helping manage suspension travel and ride height. They act as pivot points that absorb energy during acceleration, braking, and cornering — ensuring smooth movement and maintaining chassis balance. Properly functioning spring plates preserve suspension geometry, enhance grip, and provide the responsive handling Porsche is known for.

At Design911, we supply a complete range of spring plates and components, engineered for precision, strength, and long-lasting performance. Manufactured from high-quality steel or performance-grade alloys, our spring plates deliver exact fitment and reliable operation under all driving conditions. Ideal for servicing, classic restorations, or performance tuning, they help maintain stability, comfort, and control across your Porsche’s suspension system.

What Do Spring Plates Do?

Spring plates play a vital role in controlling the movement and alignment of the rear suspension, ensuring even weight distribution and consistent handling.

Core Functions:
