Gearshift

The craftsmanship of MOMO's artisans reaches its climax thanks to the extraordinary woodworking: mahogany wood and beechwood are expertly sanded and layered along the whole body of Targa with the result of a complex but harmonious game of contrast between colours and materials.
Crown jewel of this shift knob is the vintage tobacco leather top, with the stamped MOMO Heritage logo.
The short and spherical body of Targa fits perfectly an open palm grip, for a full and soft control of the gear shift.

For Porsche 911/912/930 1965-1986 87-89 w/ manual transmission . * on 87-89 cars, please measure shifter shaft to ensure fitment as several shifter shafts were available through those model years. The hole in our knob measures .595"
Unlike most shift knobs on the market, Rennlines are far from universal. Universal usually means that it will nearly fit some applications and will not fit the rest. All Rennline shift knobs are CNC machined to fit specific applications, eliminating the concern of missing a gear due to loose or detached shift knob. There is no need to cut, drill, or modify your factory shift lever to install. All of our shift knobs are the ergonomically correct 1.875 diameter and have rubber trim rings installed at the base.
Available in Silver and black finishes, for cars with or without integrated shift boots.

Porsche Gearshift Assemblies & Components | Precision Control & Driving Feel
The gearshift is a vital interface between driver and machine — translating your movements into smooth, precise gear changes. Every Porsche relies on a perfectly engineered gearshift system to deliver accurate engagement, tactile feedback, and performance confidence. Over time, wear or mechanical fatigue can reduce shift quality, making replacement essential for restoring your Porsche’s signature driving experience.
At Design911, we supply premium gearshift assemblies, levers, knobs, and components designed to meet or exceed original design standards. Crafted from high-strength metals and refined materials such as leather, Alcantara, and aluminium, our gearshift parts ensure optimal precision, durability, and driver comfort.
Whether you’re restoring a classic Porsche or upgrading for enhanced performance, our gearshift products deliver mechanical excellence with timeless Porsche style.
What Does a Gearshift Do?
The gearshift assembly enables the driver to control transmission gear changes — linking the gear lever to the gearbox via linkages, cables, or electronic selectors.
Core Functions:
- Transfers driver input to engage or change gears.
- Provides tactile feedback for manual or semi-automatic operation.
- Ensures smooth and accurate gear engagement.
- Integrates ergonomically into the Porsche interior.
- Enhances overall driving precision and performance feel.
A properly functioning gearshift ensures responsive control, mechanical balance, and the refined feedback expected from every Porsche.
Why Do Gearshift Components Fail or Wear Out?
Even the most precisely engineered gearshift mechanisms experience wear over time due to repeated use and environmental factors.
Common Causes of Failure Include:
- Worn linkage joints or bushings leading to slack or misalignment.
- Deteriorated rubber or nylon components reducing shift accuracy.
- Corrosion or debris in metal pivot points.
- Damage to cables or selectors from heavy use.
- Fading or cracking of leather or trim on the gear knob.
When these issues develop, gear selection can feel loose, notchy, or inaccurate — affecting both driving performance and comfort.
Why Replace or Upgrade Your Porsche Gearshift?
Replacing a worn gearshift assembly restores crisp gear engagement and tactile precision. Upgrading to a performance or short-shift kit can also improve response times, reduce throw distance, and provide a more engaging driving experience.
Key Benefits:
- Restores smooth, precise shifting and driver confidence.
- Eliminates excess play or looseness in gear selection.
- Enhances tactile feel and interior aesthetics.
- Offers performance upgrades such as short-throw or weighted gear knobs.
- Compatible with Porsche 911, Cayman, Boxster, Panamera, Macan, and Cayenne models.
- Ideal for restorations, repairs, or performance modifications.
Upgrading your Porsche gearshift not only refines driving feel but also adds a premium touch to your cabin interior.
Highlights
- Precision-engineered Porsche gearshift assemblies and components.
- Available in performance, restoration, and custom finishes.
- Improves shift accuracy, comfort, and control.
