Its roles include enabling or disabling warning lights (e.g., “Hood open” indicator), interfacing with the alarm/immobiliser system (to detect unauthorised opening), or controlling internal functions like interior lighting, fusebox cover, etc.
A correctly functioning micro-switch ensures that the vehicle knows the hood’s state, enabling proper safety, alarm and signalling behaviour.

Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:

The instrument cluster shows a persistent “Hood open” warning when the bonnet is actually closed (false open indication).
