Product Information
Product Information
Track rod inner joint.
This joint fork provides secure connection between the steering rack and the track rod, ensuring proper steering control, precise handling response, and stable geometry under load. It transmits steering input from the rack to the wheels, allowing directional changes to be translated into wheel movement. Built to OEM standards.
Price is for each,
(we recommend these should be replaced in pairs)

Fits:
Porsche 964 C2 1989 - 1994
Porsche 964 TURBO

Diagram Ref No 3.

The steering rack controls the front wheels by means of two track rods, terminated by replaceable joints - the "Track Rod Ends", attached to the swivel hubs. These will eventually wear, leading to problems with steering and handling, as well as being a failure point on the UK MOT and presumably on the statutory inspections in other countries.

With wear, the inner joint can develop play, wear down bushings/joints, or even deform - resulting in loose steering feel, vague steering response, front-end instability and uneven tyre wear. A compromised joint reduces the precision and predictability of steering, which is especially problematic on performance-oriented cars like the 964. Replacing the joint fork restores tight steering linkage, improves handling precision, ensures stable geometry, and maintains safe, predictable steering behaviour. This is particularly important if other steering components (rack, tie rods, suspension) have been renewed or if the car is used spiritedly or on track.

When to replace:
Consider replacing if you observe any of the following:
Excessive steering play or looseness - vague or delayed steering response.
Clunking, knocking or clicking noises from the front end when turning or driving over bumps.
Uneven or rapid tyre wear at the front wheels - indicating alignment or steering geometry issues.
Front-end instability under load (cornering, braking) or poor steering feel.
Steering linkage overhaul, suspension refresh or restoration work - replacing inner joints is often part of full steering maintenance.
If current joint is corroded, damaged or visibly worn.
