Wishbone Ball Joint Kit, Front - New Type (FI16)

Restore your Porsche’s legendary steering feel with the Front Wishbone Ball Joint Kit — the updated “New Type (FI16)” design used on 911 and 914 models.
The ball joint links the front lower wishbone (A-arm) to the steering knuckle, allowing controlled pivoting as the suspension moves. It maintains precise wheel geometry and ensures responsive handling.
Sold Each.
x2 Kits Required Per Car.

What This Product Does:

  • As the suspension moves up and down over bumps, the ball joint allows controlled pivoting and articulation of that joint while maintaining alignment and keeping the wheel geometry stable.
  • It must hold under load, lateral forces, and steering inputs, ensuring the wheel moves in the intended path without play or deflection.

Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
  • Steering play / looseness — the steering may feel vague or “sloppy.”
  • Knocking or clunk noises — a distinct knock over bumps or during suspension travel.
  • Uneven or rapid tire wear — particularly on the front tires, due to misalignment or movement under load.
  • Vibration or shimmy — especially during cornering or when driving over uneven surfaces.
  • Borderline geometry shifts — alignment may change subtly when load is applied or when cornering.
  • Reduced road feel / control — the front end may feel less precise or less responsive.

Why Replacement Matters:
  • Restores Steering Precision & Control - Worn joints introduce slack and movement. Replacing them ensures crisp, direct response from your steering.
  • Maintains Alignment Under Load - A healthy ball joint holds the wheel geometry consistent even when cornering or under load.
  • Prevents Further Suspension Damage - Allowing play in a ball joint transfers forces to other components — control arms, bushings, knuckles, etc. Replacing it protects the rest of the suspension.
  • Eliminates Noise & Harshness - New joints operate cleanly with no unwanted knocking or vibration.
  • Safety & Reliability - Because the ball joint is a critical steering link, a failed joint can degrade or compromise safe vehicle control. Having robust, correctly functioning joints is essential.
