What This Product Does:

• When you pull the release handle inside the car (or via the remote release), this cable is under tension and the movement pulls the latch lever on the rear lid, allowing the lid to open.
• The “guide tube” part provides support for the cable, keeps it aligned, prevents kinks or chafing, and helps maintain smooth operation.
• Without this cable functioning properly, the rear lid may not open (or may open unpredictably), causing inconvenience or failure to gain access to the engine bay/trunk area.

Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:

• The lid release inside the cabin doesn’t operate the rear lid — i.e., you pull the handle and the lid doesn’t release.
  
• Sticky, stiff or jerky release operation — the cable may be sticking in the guide tube, stretched or frayed.
  
• Visible damage to the cable or guide tube — corrosion, frayed wire, broken sheath, kinks in the tube.
  
• Rear lid latch mis-behaviour — the lid may pop open unexpectedly, not latch properly, or you may need to repeatedly pull the handle.
