Product Information
Intermediate Shaft. Size 0.
This product is an OE Match intermediate shaft assembly that includes the integral gear (“Size 0”) required for proper timing and drive of associated engine components. It corresponds to the Porsche reference 930.105.013.04 and replaces the original part in applications where the intermediate shaft has worn, seized, or failed.

Fits:
Porsche 911 1965 - 1989
Porsche 914-6
Porsche 964 Turbo 3.3L

Diagram ref no 43

The intermediate shaft is a load-bearing driveline of the engine’s mechanical support system. It transmits rotational motion from the crankshaft to other systems that depend on gear timing, such as camshaft drives, oil pumps, and accessory drives. A correctly sized intermediate shaft with gear maintains the precise mechanical relationships necessary for proper timing, lubrication delivery, and engine performance.

Function:
•  Rotates and drives key engine components through its gear mesh
•  Maintains timing relationships between crank and driven accessories
•  Supports structural alignment and smooth rotation via bearings
•  Ensures reliable oil pump drive to sustain proper lubrication

Without a correctly functioning intermediate shaft, related engine systems may run out of correct alignment or lubrication, potentially leading to engine damage.

The intermediate shaft is a fundamental engine component driving both timing and lubrication elements. Over time, wear or failure of the shaft, gear teeth, or bearings can lead to: Abnormal engine noises Inaccurate timing relationships Oil pump malfunctions Diminished lubrication Accelerated wear of other engine parts Replacing a worn intermediate shaft with a quality OE Match unit helps preserve correct mechanical operation and prevents secondary damage from poor timing or oil delivery.

When to replace. Consider replacing this intermediate shaft when:
•   The engine exhibits wear or noise in the valvetrain area
•   Internal diagnostics reveal shaft play or gear wear
•   A rebuild or major engine service is underway
•   You detect oil pressure inconsistencies related to pump drive irregularities
