Product Information
OE Match replacement rear drop link - also known as a stabiliser/sway bar link. The drop link connects the rear stabiliser bar to the suspension arm or hub assembly, transferring forces and motion so that the anti-roll bar can do its job in reducing body roll and improving chassis stability.
Fits:
Porsche 964 1990 - 1994 all models
Diagram ref no 18.
The rear drop link transmits movement between the rear stabiliser bar and the rear suspension, playing a central role in controlling body roll during cornering and maintaining consistent tyre contact with the road. When the vehicle enters or exits a turn, the drop link helps the stabiliser bar apply opposing force to both sides of the suspension, reducing lean and enhancing overall balance and grip.
Proper functioning stabiliser links contribute to:
• Improved handling precision
• Reduced body roll in corners
• Enhanced stability under load
• More predictable steering feedback
Function:
• Connects the stabiliser bar to the rear suspension arm/hub
• Transfers cornering forces to resist body roll
• Helps maintain chassis balance and tyre contact
• Supports vehicle stability under dynamic driving
Drop links are subject to repeated movement and load and can wear over time. When worn, they may produce noise or fail to transmit force efficiently.
Rear drop links work continuously to transmit forces between the anti-roll bar and suspension. Over time, the ball joints or bushings in the links can wear, leading to:
• Clunking or rattling noises at the rear under acceleration, braking, or over bumps
• Loose or vague handling during cornering
• Excessive body roll
• Uneven tyre wear
• Reduced stability and confidence in the chassis
Replacing worn or damaged rear drop links with a quality OE Match unit restores proper anti-roll bar function, improves handling precision, and enhances overall driving stability.
When to replace. Replace the rear drop link when:
• You hear noise from the rear suspension under motion
• Handling feels loose or unsettled during turns
• You observe visible wear or play in the link joints
• The vehicle shows unusual tyre wear patterns
• You are performing a rear suspension service or overhaul
