Porsche 997.2 GT3 / GT3 RS Centre Radiator Feed Coolant Hose – Engine M97.74 / M97.77

The coolant feed hose is a vital component of the cooling system on the Porsche 997.2 GT3 / GT3 RS equipped with the M97.74 and M97.77 engine. This hose carries coolant from the engine’s cooling circuit to the centre radiator, allowing excess heat to be dissipated before the coolant continues circulating through the system.

Fits:

  • Porsche 997 MKII GT3 2010-11

Diagram Ref No 11

High performance engines such as the Porsche GT3’s naturally aspirated M97.744 and M97.77 generate significant heat, especially during aggressive road driving or track use. Proper coolant circulation is essential to maintain safe engine temperatures and protect critical internal components.

What This Coolant Hose Does

The Porsche 997 GT3 cooling system uses multiple front-mounted radiators to handle the heat produced by the engine. The centre radiator provides additional cooling capacity beyond the left and right radiators.

The feed coolant hose performs several key functions:

• Delivers hot coolant from the engine to the centre radiator
• Supports efficient heat transfer through the radiator core
• Maintains continuous coolant circulation throughout the system
• Helps regulate engine temperature under high load conditions

Without reliable coolant flow through this hose, the radiator cannot effectively remove heat from the engine coolant.

Why Coolant Hoses Fail

Cooling hoses are constantly exposed to high temperatures, pressure and vibration. Over time, these conditions cause the rubber and internal reinforcement materials to degrade.

Common causes of hose failure include:

Heat cycling
Continuous expansion and contraction from engine heat can cause rubber hoses to harden and crack.

Pressure stress
Cooling systems operate under pressure, which can cause weakened hoses to swell or rupture.

Chemical exposure
Coolant additives and contaminants can gradually break down hose materials.

Mechanical wear
Movement and vibration within the engine bay can cause abrasion or stress at connection points.

Symptoms of a Failing Coolant Hose

• Coolant leaking from the front of the vehicle
• Low coolant level warnings
• Sweet coolant smell near the front bumper area
• Rising engine temperatures during driving
• Visible cracking, swelling or deterioration of the hose

Replacing worn coolant hoses helps prevent unexpected coolant loss and protects the engine from overheating.

Why You May Need to Replace This Hose

Protect the High-Performance GT3 Engine
The M97.74 and M97.77 engine operates at high temperatures and relies heavily on efficient cooling.

Prevent Cooling System Leaks
A degraded hose can fail suddenly, causing coolant loss and overheating.

Maintain Track Day Reliability
GT3 models are frequently used in high-performance environments where cooling system integrity is critical
