Actuator Camshaft. A solenoid component for the Variable Camshaft Timing (VarioCam Plus) system, used to adjust camshaft timing for optimal performance. Serves the front (intake/exhaust timing) of the VarioCam system, typically requiring two units per engine (one per bank)

Common issues or symptoms: 

Rough idle / misfires: Faulty actuator disrupts precise valve timing, leading to uneven idling or misfires 

Reduced engine performance: Loss of power or hesitation at certain RPMs can be linked to improper camshaft adjustment Check Engine Light (CEL), often triggered when the engine control unit (ECU) detects misalignment or malfunction in camshaft timing — very common with actuator failure

Electrical problems such as wiring degradation or poor connector contact can impede correct activation 

Diagnostic & repair advice check oil quality and change intervals — fresh, clean oil helps prevent buildup that hampers actuator performance scan for and interpret fault codes using an OBD-II scanner to pinpoint actuator failure or control circuit issues Inspect connectors and wiring for corrosion or looseness Replace defective solenoid(s) with OEM or high-quality equivalents if internal stick or mechanical failure is suspected.
