Product Information
Product Information
Air conditioning compressor.
Fits as the main air conditioning compressor in the heating & A/C system, typically mounted on the front of the engine with belt drive. Built to original equipment standards, this compressor delivers the correct displacement and operating pressure for the Porsche 928 climate system, ensuring reliable refrigerant circulation, stable pressures and consistent cabin cooling even in demanding conditions.

Fits:
Porsche 928 1980 - 1992*
* Will not fit 4.5L 928 years 1978-79

This compressor draws refrigerant from the evaporator, compresses it, and pumps it through the condenser so the system can expel heat and deliver cool, conditioned air to the interior. By maintaining the correct refrigerant flow and pressure, it ensures the A/C system can cool the cabin quickly and keep temperatures stable, supporting both comfort and demisting/defrost functions.

A worn or failing A/C compressor can cause poor or no cooling, excessive noise, seized internals, and contamination of the entire A/C system. Left unchecked, failure can damage other components like the condenser, expansion valve or receiver-drier. Replacing the compressor with an OE-match unit restores proper refrigerant circulation, protects the rest of the climate system, and brings back the comfort and refinement expected from a Porsche GT car - especially important on long trips and in warm climates.

When to replace
Consider replacing compressor if:
  The A/C no longer blows cold air or cooling is very weak.
  You hear grinding, rattling or squealing noises from the compressor area.
  There are visible oil/refrigerant leaks from the compressor body or shaft seal.
  The compressor clutch fails to engage, or cycles abnormally.
  The system has suffered an internal compressor failure (metal contamination).
  You’re performing a full A/C system restoration on a classic 928.
