A Quick Look at TRW
TRW information on this page is based on details supplied by the manufacturer or distributor, plus any OE references provided with the parts.
Choosing the Right Fit for Your Porsche
Where TRW is listed for Porsche, use the supplied model coverage and OE references to confirm suitability. Check details that commonly affect fitment such as model year, side/position, and connector type where relevant.
- Typical reasons to choose or replace TRW parts include refreshing worn suspension or steering joints, restoring braking performance, and addressing age-related wear without guesswork.
- Common real-world issues in this area include steering play, knocking over bumps, brake vibration, and uneven braking, often linked to worn ball joints or tie rods, seized calipers, old brake fluid, or incorrect installation torque.
- For safety-critical parts such as brakes and steering, watch for symptoms like pulling, vibration, or abnormal noises and investigate before they worsen.
- After any significant steering or suspension work, have the alignment checked and re-confirm torque settings after a short bedding-in period.
- When renewing left/right components such as dampers or control arms, replacing in pairs helps maintain balanced handling and predictable behaviour.
- Use service intervals and visible wear (perishing, leaks, excessive play) as cues for planning preventative replacement rather than waiting for a clear failure.
Browse by Category
If you already know the area you are working on, start with the category and then filter by Porsche model. Where real-world symptoms and typical reasons to replace are provided, use them to keep the wording grounded.
Suspension & Axle — Suspension and axle components cover shocks, springs, arms, bushes, and joints that keep your Porsche stable, comfortable, and safe. Replacement is usually driven by wear, knocks over bumps, uneven tyre wear, or a general loss of ride and handling precision.
- After suspension work, plan for an alignment check and road test to confirm there is no remaining play or noise.
- Diagnose knocks and vibration carefully; multiple worn bushes or joints can contribute at once.
Ball Joints — Ball joints are safety-critical pivot points in the suspension that control steering precision and geometry. They are typically replaced when there is play, clunking, vague steering, or uneven tyre wear, restoring stability and confidence under braking and cornering.
- Check associated arms and bushes at the same time; fitting a new joint into a worn arm can be false economy.
- Plan on a wheel alignment after ball joint replacement to keep tyre wear and handling in check.
Shock Absorbers FRONT — Front shock absorbers are changed when damping fades, oil leaks appear, or the car feels floaty, unstable under braking, or unsettled over bumps. Choosing suitable front dampers helps bring back ride control, braking stability, and steering feel on your Porsche.
- Replace front shocks in left/right pairs to avoid uneven behaviour and unpredictable grip under braking.
- Consider renewing top mounts and related hardware if there are noises or high mileage on the existing parts.
Porsche Standard — Standard front suspension options are ideal when you want to retain the original Porsche balance of comfort and control. They are typically chosen during refresh work to keep the car close to factory behaviour rather than moving to a firmer or more focused setup.
- If chasing knocks or poor ride, inspect the full suspension system; issues are not always limited to dampers alone.
- Match standard components with appropriate springs and mounts so the system works as designed.
Special Offer Parts — Special offer parts can help reduce costs when tackling known Porsche wear items or grouped maintenance jobs. They are often used for routine service components or common refresh work, provided the part numbers and fitment details match your specific model.
- Always confirm compatibility by model, year, and specification before buying offer items, as returns can be inconvenient once the car is apart.
- Use offers to plan batches of work—combining service items or wear components can save on repeated labour.

This Rear Brake Disc, Brake Pads & Wear Sensor Package is a complete rear braking service solution designed for select Porsche Cayenne 955 model. The kit includes all essential components required to restore safe, reliable, and factory-correct rear braking performance in one installation.
The package comprises a rear brake disc (rotor), a matched rear brake pad set, and a brake pad wear sensor, ensuring proper braking function, smooth pedal feel, and accurate wear monitoring. Each component is manufactured to specifications, guaranteeing correct fitment, compatibility, and long service life.
The brake disc provides an efficient friction surface with proper heat dissipation, while the brake pads are formulated for consistent stopping power, low noise, and stable performance under normal and heavy braking conditions. The included wear sensor restores the dashboard warning system, alerting the driver when pad replacement is required.
Ideal for routine maintenance or full rear brake replacement, this kit ensures balanced braking performance, reduced noise and vibration, and confidence-inspiring stopping power.
Fits:
What This Package Does:
- Restores full rear braking performance
- Provides smooth, consistent stopping power
- Reduces brake noise, vibration, and harshness
- Restores brake pad wear warning functionality
- Protects brake discs from damage caused by worn pads
Symptoms Of Brake Disc / Pad / Wear Sensor Failure:
- Squealing or screeching noises when braking
- Grinding or metallic noises (indicative of worn pads scraping the rotor)
- Brake dust buildup
- Reduced braking performance
- Dashboard wear warning light (triggered by sensor)
- Vibration or pulsation through the brake pedal
- Grooved, scored, or visibly worn rotor surface
- Blue discoloration (overheating)
- Reduced braking efficiency or “soft” feel
- Uneven pad wear
- Brake wear warning light on dashboard
- Inaccurate pad wear readings
- No wear alert even when pads are worn
Why Replacement Matters:
- Fresh brake pads and discs provide maximum friction and braking performance, which is essential for safe stopping distances, especially under load or high speeds.
- Worn brake pads can prematurely score and damage rotors. Replacing both together avoids costly follow-up repairs.
- New discs and pads reduce noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH), delivering a smooth pedal feel and stable stopping.
- The wear sensor ensures you receive timely alerts — replacing it maintains this system, preventing unsafe brake conditions.

A clutch that is engaged/disengaged via hydraulic fluid instead of a cable uses a Clutch Master and Clutch Slave Cylinder. When depressing the clutch pedal a lever is squeezed, forcing hydraulic fluid through hydraulic lines to a "slave cylinder" which houses a piston. The piston forces a push rod to engage or disengage the clutch. A clutch master cylinder that contains the hydraulic fluid sits on a support thar near the clutch lever. When either the Master or Slave Cylinder fail the clutch is unable to be disengaged.

The brake master cylinder is a core hydraulic component in the braking system that converts the mechanical force from the brake pedal into hydraulic pressure. This pressure is transmitted through brake lines to the brake calipers at each wheel, enabling the vehicle to slow and stop effectively. Proper function of the master cylinder is essential for consistent brake feel and safe stopping performance.
The brake master cylinder is essential for safe operation of the brake system. Over time, internal seals and components can wear, leading to:
• Soft or spongy brake pedal feel
• Reduced hydraulic pressure
• Inconsistent stopping distances
• Visible fluid leaks under the dash or near the cylinder.
Replacing a worn or failing master cylinder with a TRW replacement restores proper hydraulic pressure, improves brake responsiveness, and enhances overall safety - especially critical on performance vehicles like the Porsche 911.
Replace this master cylinder if you notice:
• Brake pedal sinks or feels spongy
• Decreased brake performance
• Internal or external fluid leaks
• During a full brake system overhaul or restoration
• When upgrading to OEM-spec braking components
